Geek Squad said they couldnt take it back becouse it was over 30 days old GRRRRRRR imagine my agravation now. Well I decided to take it back to Best Buy where I purchsed it with receipt in hand. I even have the conversation transcripted for proof. and that they would refund my money for the drive when they got the old one back. So I called HP Tech support (if you want to call it that) and they It worked great from day 1 till the other day I wanted to copy a photoĭisc and it kept saying my photo cd was blank after I had just made a copy of that same disc and then Sonic wouldnt even detect my drive. So it is still new with a warranty and I use the term warranty looslyĪnd it has the Matshita DVD-RAM UJ-851S DVD-RW-DL Lite Scribe and I use HP Lite Scribe dvdr's and cdr's and HP cdr's. I just got an HP DV6125SE Media Center laptop for this past x-mas These things have been selling like hotcakes - how is it possible that we are the only two who seem to have this problem? I don't know what else to do and I'm so pissed, I'm ready to throw the machine out a window. In the meantime, I have tried burning CDs and DVDs with Windows Media Player, Winamp, Ashampoo, and Nero - all return hardware sense error codes. They make no guarantees, but if I buy the extended technical support plan, they "may" be able to make it work. MATSHITA DVD RAM UJ890AS DUAL LAYER HOW TOIf they ever figure out how to fix it, I will post the results here, although I'm not sure it will translate to your Compaq.ġ/12/07 Update: HP now claims that because the drive will burn a data CD from Windows Explorer, and because the Lightscribe feature works, there is no hardware problem that is covered by the manufacturer's warranty. 37 wasted disks later, HP has finally confirmed that there is indeed a problem - at which point, they promptly booted me to their Hardware support division. After getting jacked around by Sonic for several hours, I have literally spent the past 36 hours on the phone with HP Tech Support getting the total runaround attempting B.S. I just bought an HP Pavilion dv6119us with the same drive and I am having the same problem (I also cannot burn DVDs). i must go to work now but will try other discs later gonna buy some different brands to see if i get same results. I tried burning a mp3 disc on a maxell cd it too failed when i explore the disc i see the files but windows media player doesn't. I have searched for firmware updates there are none. ![]() It will write the files on Memorex cdrws.I haven't tried writing any dual layer dvds yet but I have made the recovery disc for the comp using Verbatim Video Guard dvds.So it seems to only have a problem writng audio cds. I have tried HP Lightscribe cds,Maxell cds, TDK cds. I check before inserting to make sure they are clean of dust & fingerprints of course they are.When I use the Sonic software that came installed on the comp the advanced reason says Sense:03ASC:10,ASCQ:00(Command2A)Px.dll:2.7.27.500,pxdrv.dll:1.1.670,PxMas.dll:2.7.27.500,PxSFS.DLL:2.7.27.500,PxWave.dll:2.7.27.500,pxwma.dll:1.0.0.3 If anyone understands this please respond. in windows media it tells me to clean the discs. everytime I try to burn an audio cd it gets almost finished and the says it cannot write the files to cd. I have a new compaq dv6110 laptop with this burner in it. ![]()
